A New Moon, Direct Planets and a Battle for Control

The Sun and Moon will meet in Aquarius on Friday, February 9, to form the Aquarian New Moon. The New Moon heralds a growth cycle. Progress on what is begun at the New Moon can be seen clearly under the light of the Full Moon on February 19. Aquarius encompasses lots of things, but one of them is the legislature. And the news has certainly been full of House dramas.

The New Moon is a time when things move and grow, which would be a change from where I sit now. The House just voted down the bipartisan immigration bill. But all the planets are in direct motion, none looking backward, which means things press forward. I hope they will!

The Sun (Executive Branch), Moon (masses of people) and Mercury (media) are in the sign of Aquarius (legislature). They are all square (tense aspect) with Jupiter (expansion, laws) or Uranus (ruler of Aquarius) in Taurus (MAGA extremists). Uranus, ruler of the sign Aquarius, is trine Pluto in Aquarius and Mars in Capricorn (the "haves"), so I think it is clear that for the moment anyway, those in Congress have the upper hand.

But astrology never stands still. Mars in Capricorn will cross Pluto in Aquarius on Valentine's Day, followed shortly thereafter by Venus on February 17. When Mars crosses Pluto - the God of War joining the God of the Underworld, we may see intense fighting in Gaza or Ukraine. I am hopeful that when Venus, the peacemaker, comes to join the party on February 17, cooler heads will prevail, and we may have a cease fire in the Israeli war.

I don't see a clear outcome yet, because Uranus is involved, and it is a paradigm shifter. So something unexpected might break the logjam. But the conflict is clear, as it is if you see the news.

And another important thing is happening - the wound in our national identity - Chiron in Aries (Who am I? A I a Democrat, Republican or something entirely new?) is very, very close to the transiting North Node of the Moon. The North Node is aspirational and feels fated. So, together with the surprises we often get from Uranus or Aquarius, a surprising twist of fate may be in store, too.

As always during this difficult and harrowing year, keep your personal vibration at a high, fearless level. If enough of us carry that torch, it can make a difference.

On a personal note, when Mars crosses Pluto on Valentine's Day, love could be obsessive and passionate! This is particularly true for those born early in Aquarius, Taurus, Leo or Scorpio or late in Capricorn, Aries, Cancer or Libra.
