At 12:24 pm, the Covid Relief bill was passed in the Senate, 50 to 49, without a single Republican voting to support it. This bill is wildly popular among people outside Congress in the real world. Senators in the GOP represent tens of millions less people than those representing a Democratic viewpoint. Obviously, many Republicans and Democrats favor the bill. But that reality was not represented in the chamber with such a narrow vote.

In a democracy, compromise is not abhorred; it is a necessity for working together. We are in danger of having a hostile minority make or block laws that do not express the will of the people. Isn't that the antithesis of democracy? The GOP does not seem to feel it can win elections without gerrymandering, endorsing Big Lies or repressing the vote. The planets in Aquarius favor democracy; the GOP is represented by Pluto in Capricorn, which is more autocratic and less inclusive.

Astrologically, this smacks of the square between Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus - a need for reform (Saturn) vs. those loudly proclaiming the need for their personal freedom (Uranus) - the heck with anyone else's need or desires.

The Sun in Pisces (Executive Branch) is square the North Node in Gemini (science) and South Node in Sagittarius (opinions) conjunct Juno (families) and opposite Vesta in Virgo (health professionals). This creates a phenomenon known as the earth wobble - unexpected things (including earth events) can happen. Because the Nodes of the Moon are involved, there may be a feeling of karma at work - and science trumping (no pun intended) outmoded philosophies.

Every planet has a dark face and a bright face. Neptune is no exception. With the Sun so near Neptune, there can be idealism. The Executive Branch can shine a bright light on Neptune. But Neptune can also be fantasy. The efforts by some states to reopen unsafely can be a mirage of personal freedom at the expense of citizens and health care workers as the government works diligently to get people vaccinated.

The Moon is in Capricorn today. Roll up your sleeves and get to work time to make the progress from Saturday a reality. And what do we do to raise the minimum wage to a living wage now?
