Happy Winter Solstice!

Very soon now, the Sun enters the sign Capricorn for the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year. (I got married on the longest night of the year....that is another story!).The dark days of fall have reached their zenith. The light is growing.

The ingress of the Sun into 0 degrees Capricorn sets the tone for the next three months. Six of the planets in the Ingress chart are in Capricorn and Taurus. Interaction between the Sun (the Executive branch) and the Moon (the people) works together seamlessly (trine). Both share an interest in what is practical (earth element). And both the Sun and Moon are sextile Saturn in Pisces in the 7th house. A return to responsible diplomacy to get things done. Saturn rules cause and effect.

The most elevated planet in the chart is Uranus, a planet of revolution, freedom and independence. Jupiter, very close to Uranus, makes things bigger. A greater need for freedom. Jupiter also rules the Law, located in the house of truth and principles. Jupiter is in turn, near the Moon, the will of the people.

This group of planets is opposite Venus in Scorpio. Venus in Scorpio can be intense and vengeful. Looking at the whole lineup, if Venus acts vengefully, the rule of law and rationality will reach a breaking point. On the one side is some short term, chest thumping thinking; on the other hand, I think the will of the people will demand a change or conflicts can become revolutions.

The light is growing. Pluto is set to return to Aquarius, a more democratic sign in January, 2024. On January 1, Mercury stops its retrograde motion and goes direct...a new sheriff may arrive in town. We'll see what the growing light of the sun illuminates.
