Today is the day that the planet Uranus leaves the fixed earth sign of Taurus (there since 2018) to head for the more flexible and airy sign of Gemini.  Uranus will briefly back into Taurus from November, 2025 to April, 2026, then remain in Gemini until May 22, 2033.  Uranus is future oriented, rebellious and follows its own star, often in revolutionary ways.  While Taurus supports none of those things willingly, Gemini will be friendlier territory.

Uranus will express itself more freely than it did in an earth sign - whether or not you personally enjoy it may depend on whether the revolution and the surprises it brings are in your wheelhouse.  But all of us will experience a technical revolution during the years Uranus is in Gemini.  A1, wind and solar (despite the reactionary measures of Trumps tax bill) and climate change technologies will flourish.  Everything has a duality.  Uranus in Gemini can have a cold and dissociative effect, too, so beware of a lack of empathy (Musk, I am looking at you!) on how revolutionary activities affect all people.

This is an astrologically unprecedented year.  All of the slow moving outer planets have changed sign between November, 2024, and now.  Slow moving is important because these planets stay around long enough to dramatically reshape our consciousness, cultures, expectations.

This summer is a preview of the future.  Neptune, Saturn, Jupiter and now Uranus, are moving into new signs, but each will retrograde back to the sign it recently occupied for a few months. At that time, we will have an opportunity to tie up the loose ends of the previous sign and integrate any new perceptions we have gained before we move on more fully.

The great wars of this country - the Revolution, the Civil War and World War II all took place during a Uranus in Gemini period.  That does not, of course, guarantee that war is inevitable.  It is a choice, regardless of the planets.  The years 2028 and 2031 look especially fraught to me as Uranus transits the United States (Sibley) chart - first a Uranus return and then a conjunction with the planet Mars, a warrior planet.

Some good news is that the US is having a Jupiter return this year.  We will be asking ourselves if we have expanded our generosity to those allies who need it - or conversely, we may feel justified in spending more on “safety” like prisons and walls and concentration camps.  Our President is a Gemini, and the entry of Uranus, the unpredictable revolutionary, will doubtless coincide with more chaos and bizarre behaviors.

It is easy to be terribly unsettled when looking at the change inherent in these planets changing sign - astrological hypochondria, sometimes - but the fact is that you don't have to read much of the news to know these are unsettling, fractured, dissociative times and that the drumbeat for factions to be at war is strong.  I do not deny it.  However, perhaps we are breaking down to break through to something both new and needed. No one would say we don't need improvement.  We do not agree that the path we are on will lead to that, however.  Our job is to stay vigilant, that change that is inevitable and hope it eventually brings us a good result, in the most peaceful manner possible.
