This week will wrap up the August eclipse season with a partial lunar eclipse in the sign of Pisces. Eclipses can only happen at the new or full Moons when the Nodes of the Moon hover about. The nodes are a wild card in astrology - the fickle finger of fate, I like to call it. Things are less stable, not always following the conventional path. This eclipse is a North Node eclipse -- aligned with the destination we are reaching for, whereas the solar eclipse on August 12, was a South Node about releasing those things that interfere with our moving into the future.
The partial lunar eclipse path is over the Americas. This is important as events tend to crystallize where the eclipse is seen. The eclipse Moon is at 4 degrees Pisces. Two good Pisces words apply here: surrender and faith - and both are highlighted in the eclipse chart. We are being invited to step out of our comfort zone and surrender to the moment, maybe not knowing the next step fully, but having the belief that it is our destiny to act upon it anyway.
The Moon and the eclipse square the volatile planet Uranus whose mythology is the God of Thunderbolts and Lightning. Uranus, like lightning, is fast, and periods of insight are intermingled with periods of darkness. Events under Uranus' influence tend to be quick, impactful and unanticipated.
In Mundane Astrology, the Moon represents the will of the people. The earth is making the Moon invisible - the issues of reality. And people are restless, anxious for change. One immediately thinks of day to day issues with high prices, inadequate housing and healthcare.
It takes courage to step forward. The Moon is trine Mars, a planet of action and assertion, but, most of all, of developing courage. We have that resource. And the eclipse moon in Pisces, an intuitive, even psychic way of knowing, with Mercury, the planet of rational thought. We will do our best when we are not reasoning our way through, but listening to our heart and finding the courage to follow it.
Like the solar eclipse, planets, countries and people who have 4 degrees Pisces, Virgo, Gemini or Sagittarius will feel the effects for six months at least, so don't expect that all the action happens on the day of the eclipse. Some might, but it is often a more extended process.
Be brave, follow your intuition and have the faith to surrender when you need to do so.
