New Moon in Virgo, 8/23/25

Any New Moon "seeds" the activities of the Sun and Moon in the sign it occupies. Today's New Moon in Virgo adds another factor: it is happening at 0 degrees Virgo, the very beginning of the sign. And at the end of Virgo, on September 21, there will be a second New Moon at 29 degrees Virgo. Both 0 degrees and 29 degrees are critical degrees - a journey from tentative, uncertain beginnings to fulfillment of the Virgo quest for service and continual skill building.
The journey begins with baby steps - how can I serve? How can I make a difference? Little things count. Recognize where you are. Employ the Virgo talent of discrimination to assess the truth that lies behind the media. Focus on what you can achieve, and definitely keep your wellness a primary concern.
This year, the transiting Nodes of the Moon are Virgo South Node and Pisces North Node, elevating the importance of this sign activity. Virgo, at the South Node, is something we are not happy with. The Pisces North Node cures that dissatisfaction with compassion, faith and inspiration - if we allow it to motivate us positively. Beginning at 0 degrees Virgo, the New Moon asks us if we have been to mired in the details and practical, day to day concerns (remember when Trump voters hoped he would help with the price of eggs and other commodities?) at the expense of following our higher self and vision.
Under the 15 degree Pisces Full Moon on September 7, and its Lunar Eclipse, we will get some unexpected events and a chance to benchmark our progress in using Virgo discrimination to understand where we have been gaslit and where we are in achieving a new vision. On September 21, the 29 degree Virgo Moon will again align with the Sun's eclipse. Just hours later, the Autumn Equinox will flip the Earth's seasons and the Sun will leave Virgo territory for Libra.
The sky is busy at the start of this Virgo journey. Sun/Moon in Virgo is at the apex (release point) of a yod that shows the incompatability of the transformation of democracy (Pluto in Aquarius) and the harshness of the gaslighting that surrounds us (Saturn/Neptune in Aries). In a yod, the planets involved are not in compatible elements (Earth for Virgo and Air for Pluto and Fire for Saturn/Neptune) or modes of action. They do not easily speak the same language. Virgo energy is going to have to sort this out, skillfully, discriminatingly and with an eye for serving everyone's needs.
The trine that was active during the Trump/Putin summit is still in play. Mars in Libra( God of War in a sign of peace and diplomacy) trines Pluto in Aquarius (God of the Underworld in a sign of revolution) trines Uranus in Gemini (God of Thunderbolts and Lightning in a sign of communication)! Not light hearted mythologies behind these planetary placements! Like you couldn’t figure that out without astrology - but it is interesting that astrology is independently validating that perception.
The fact that the meeting took place on US soil, in an area that used to belong to Russia, and which Russia would like to have back, sends a message. It was a good photo op for Putin, internationally judged to be a war criminal. But Trump meets with him during a number of cohesive, easy, supportive aspects in the sky. Prior to the New Moon, confidential meeting materials were left in a public hotel business center. The administration could have used some of that Virgo skill, but their forte seems to be gaslighting, not competence.
So, take small steps to answer the question howcan Ibest serve? How can I put my beliefs into action? Do not judge yourself harshly. Be kind to yourself and maintain your wellness. But, above all, use your Virgo ability to discern fact from fiction and refuse to participate in gaslighting, or let fear paralyze you.
