The first week in January unfolded rapidly and horribly - the invasion of Venezuala, the surge of ICE in Minnesota and then the point blank killing of a trained protest observer, Renee Goode. When Trump is feeling cornered, he is at his most dangerous. He was ordered to release the Epstein files on December 19 (only about 1% of the files have been released nearly a month later), court cases were being decided unfavorably, and his popularity sagged uncomfortably in the polls.

What we got in early 2026 was an attempt to distract from those issues. Plenty is being written about that. I have been immersed in the astrology of the year, and one aspect struck me relative to those world events.

Gary Caton’s video on 2026 (look it up on You Tube) made me aware that during early January, we had the Sun at the midpoint of Venus and Mars in Capricorn. These planets were cazimi, in the heart of the Sun, so it was not possible to see what they are doing. The Sun is, as in the sky above, a central figure. So, we had these secret and alchemical things going on. And when Venus and Mercury pop out of this cazimi with the Sun, their roles are totally switched. Venus becomes the Morning Star and Mars the evening star. With these two acts, up became down and down became up.

In addition, Jupiter (ethics) was conjunct the Moon (the people) and opposite the Sun (the administration). I believe history may see this as an inflection point for the US. Protests erupted all over the US.
