November 9 - New Moon in Scorpio

I am writing this on November 4, the day after the midterm elections. In an earlier post, I mentioned that Wednesday would be one of the best during the Mercury Retrograde. And for many voters it was. In just a few days, on November 9, we have the New Moon in Scorpio...what happens now?

The Sun (Executive Branch) and Moon (the people) and Mercury Retrograde (the muckraker) align on November 9 to do some deep digging into cover-ups, sexual scandals and issues of power and control. The New Moon is in tension with Mars, Jupiter and the South Node of the Moon, all in Leo, which describe the current Executive Branch.

The New Moon is happening at 16 degrees Scorpio. People with a planet from 10 degrees to 22 degrees Scorpio, Taurus, Leo or Aquarius will feel this new Moon's effects more personally. One of the symbols for this degree is "an empty room with perfect walls". The walls symbolize structure that is perfectly aligned to let new opportunity fill the empty room.

Comparing the November 9 New Moon Chart to the United States Sibley Chart, three aspects stand out:

  • Our country's birth chart has Pluto 28 Capricorn in the house of values (the power structure of unbridled capitalism) directly opposite transiting Chiron 23 Aries (the wound in our national identity). How has the pursuit of wealth hurt us?

  • Our country has South Node (legacy that could use an upgrade) in Aquarius (exiles, rebels) in tension with transiting Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio (getting a new perspective on our Shadows - racism, misogyny, homophobia, etc). It is challenging us to upgrade our shared values. To learn to believe in each other.

  • Our country has its Uranus at 9 Gemini (futuristic, innovative ideas) sextile transiting Saturn 9 Aries (traditional identity). We have the energy to smash through the barriers in the way of change. I am guessing that overe the next decade, very little will survive that is old - traditional Republicans or Democrats. Not facism or socialism. Something entirely new is beginning to be unveiled. There will be resistance, for sure.

Mercury and Venus will go into direct motion on November 13 - full steam ahead.

Good Days:  Venus in Libra (Love and relationship, also allies) will loop around on the most auspicious fixed stars, Spica, around November 13. Spica stands for abundance, good fortune and protection from adversity.

Difficult Days: On November 16-19, three planets will be exactly conjunct in Leo (leader) - Mars (God of War), Jupiter (Growth) and the South Node of the Moon (Karmic shadow). Existing conflicts like Ukraine and Iran could get bigger. This activity is happening right on Donald Trump's Mars, so I would expect him to display public anger.

What is old is being destroyed so that a new vision can arise. The destruction is not over, but the cauldron of planets meeting this July was the tipping point that allowed a Democractic victory in the midterms. Change has begun, but be sure to hang in there for the long haul. Your courage and optimism make positive growth possible. We must define who we are and what values we want to stand for.
