Astrology of Saturday, March 21

I've deliberately chosen an image of a phoenix today. The old mythology of a bird going to rock bottom and rising, transformed, from the ashes. It is a fitting symbol for what the world is going through at this time.

Mrs, Jupiter, Pluto are closely joined in Capricorn, the sign of authority, and Saturn, the wise elder is at the very nth degree of Capricorn - 29 degrees, before it moves into anew sign for a bit, the more liberal and innovative sign of Aquarius. For the non-astrologer, what does that mean?

Old structures of authority are simply not working. Illness is a powerful schoolroom for learning. Did we really expect things to go on indefinitely - broken, but dysfunctional? What could have brought the planet more effectively and quickly, to its knees? Have we ever acted prudently and done the right thing because we were proactive or have we habitually not gotten everyone to act unless it made economic sense or we just had to do it?

The old authorities have failed us; it is time to build something that works for us and for the planet. Millions need healthcare, but can't pay for treatment. People have undervalued teachers; now they have to home school. Women, particularly women of color have been abused and de-valued while white males held the power. Can that continue when this country is going to be a white minority, not majority, in a decade or so? Circumstances during the pandemic are highlighting these issues.

Our planet has moved from background, something we could take for granted, into the foreground. She has been raped and plundered in the name of geed. That is not sustainable for us or the planet. During this illness, she is getting a short reprieve to shake off the ill effects and de-tox from the influences of constant travel. Maybe she, and we, need a rest. Maybe the planet, and ourselves, need a moment to breath and HIT THE RE-SET button.

One of the influences this year is Chiron transiting the sign of Aries. Meaning: we get to decide WHO WE ARE. What will we be when this is over? The old ways don't work. A revolution is in order.

Our souls, before we were born, decided to be here now. To go through this. To usher in major change - or choose to resist it. I say, be kind, be thoughtful. Do all the good you can for as long as you can. None of us leaves this planet alive. That is not a failure; it is simply the truth. Live your life so that you can be proud of who you are and of what you gave birth to during this time of change. Reach out to isolated loved ones. Be the change you hope to see.
