Eclipse Season begins: June 5 - July 5
On Friday, June 5, we saw the first of three eclipses that will take place in June and July, 2020. Eclipse effects are felt two weeks before the event and their effect lasts about 6 months until the next eclipse season in November/December, 2020. There has been a LOT of planetary activity, as has been reflected in a very action packed news cycle. As above, so below.
Here are the eclipse dates and degrees:
June 5 - Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse at 15 degrees Sagittarius
June 21 - New Moon and Solar eclipse at 0 degrees Capricorn
July 5, 2020 - Full Moon and Lunar eclipse at 13 degrees Capricorn
What these eclipses symbolize is the play between light and dark. What goes dark (is eclipsed) and what is in the light? The Moon symbolizes psychic awareness, the family, real estate, unconscious habits, night time. It also stands for the body and the will of the people en masse. So when the moon disappears, those things get less emphasis as the more ego centered Sun - Law, Authority, the Ruler - becomes predominant.
The sign of the eclipse tells us what terrain - what behaviors - will dominate. The first one, this Friday, is in the sign Sagittarius, associated with philosophy and truth. The circumstances surrounding this eclipse are the protests of the Floyd George killing. I wonder if the lunar eclipse will mean that the will off the people is undercut by the truth according to the current ruler. I hope not, but we will see.
Of course, there is a very personal effect for you depending on where the eclipse falls in your chart and if any planets are nearby or in aspect to the eclipse point. This is true whether it is a lunar or solar eclipse.
This is not happening in isolation. We have four planets going backward to their usual motion - Venus, Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter - all of which favor momentum that goes back in the past. On a personal level, we are in a reflective cycle. Best to review, revise and edit, not initiate.
And soon, we will have a Mercury Retrograde - from 6/17 to 7/12.
At midsummer, we will have the solar eclipse on June 21 at 0 degrees Cancer. If you have any planets at 0 degrees of Cancer, Capricorn, Libra or Aries, this eclipse will have a very powerful effect on you. At this time the sun goes dark and the moon is visible, allowing a reversal of the June 5 lunar eclipse. We will see a push me/pull you effect as the forces of light and dark change and pull in different directions over the next 6 months.
More on the July 5 eclipse next month.
