Astrology for the Week of August 14

A beautiful kite has formed in the sky, linking Uranus in Taurus, Neptune in Pisces, Pluto in Capricorn and Mars and Mercury in Virgo. The integration of the insight Uranus brings to our "norms". the visionary power of Neptune in its own sign, the ability to see and reform the shadowy sides of the powers that be and the energy to make the world better - and inform the world about what is happening, comes more easily now.

But every back has a front, and there is no guarantee that everyone will choose the high road these energies offer. It is a possibility, but we get to choose how to play it. The lower road is chaos in conservatism (and the planet itself), fantastical thinking, power trips, and rash words. With the happy connections of the Grand Kite, probably a lot of people will choose the ease and comfort afforded by manifesting these planets in the high road option.

There are a few bumps in the road, of course. For Monday and Tuesday, the Moon in Cancer is opposite Pluto in Capricorn. The people are opposed to those in charge. Corruption may be exposed. Obsessive thinking and moody rumination is possible for those with Cancer, Leo, Capricorn and Aquarius planets.

Mars/Mercury in Virgo (accidents, hasty communication) is opposite Neptune in Pisces (dreams and fantasies). Some feel the fires on Maui are linked to this, as well as the lack of warning sirens. I read a story where a Kansas newspaperman and his family, including his 86 year old mother, had their computers and devices taken in a raid after he was reporting on sexual misconduct and critical of a Republican legislator. he called it "Gestapo" tactics which violated a number of laws about the sanctity of the press. He is suing, but his 86 year old mother died after the stress of the raid took its toll. This aspect seems to fall in with this, as well as the Moon opposite Pluto.

On Thursday, we have the Leo New Moon, a time when energy is available to start something new. Th fixed nature of Leo gives the ability to stay the course until goals are accomplished. The New Moon is very close to the Venus retrograde in Leo. Old flames may show up again. Leo is a romantic and creative sign, and retrogrades do bring in the past. In a larger sense, secrets continue to be uncovered. We also have Jupiter joining the Grand Kite party on Thursday, bringing its fortunate gifts to bear, too.

The Grand Kite is in the sky all week, so if you are getting ready to start school or begin a new project, I'd say the winds of good fortune are available, so make the most of them.
