Astrology for Thursday, December 17

Saturn has moved into Aquarius. Jupiter, at 29 degrees Capricorn now, will follow shortly. On the Winter Solstice, December 21, both planets will be conjunct in Aquarius.

Jupiter and Saturn conjunct very 20 years. It always kicks off a new cycle. But this Jupiter Saturn conjunction will be special. These conjunctions occur in a family of signs for 200 years. For the last 200 years, the convergence of these planets was in earth signs. The Industrial Revolution, the rise of the Robber Barons, wealth inequities, the subjugation of earth's resources for capitalist motives, all happened during the earth cycle.

For the next 200 years, we will be having convergences in air signs, the first of which is Aquarius. Information, ideas, individuality, new technology will be the focus during this cycle.

Saturn is a builder and introduces constraints. With Saturn in Aquarius, we will see some rules eventually for the internet and social media. We'll see new inventions, like vaccines, that are of practical benefit for society. We'll also see some infrastructure that takes advantage of new technologies rather than fossil fuel based structures.

In a mundane chart Aquarius represents Congress. Saturn in Aquarius suggests there may be an element of control from Congress. With Jupiter joining Saturn by Inauguration Day, there should be some opportunity, too, but Saturn may insist on controlled opportunities, slowing down progress.
