Today is the day when Pluto returns to the same place it occupied on July 4, 1776. Pluto makes a return every 248 years. This return is a tumultuous time, highlighting the material that was repressed then, directing us to rebuild on the ashes of past mistakes. As my mentor, Steven Forrest, says, the karma of the US Pluto at 27 degrees of Capricorn has ripened. Setting it free will take time, but will release all the energy that had been unexpressed, which is available for use in a different way. Like the Plutonian phoenix arising from the ashes, we sometimes have to break down to break though (another Forrest expression).
Pluto occupies the second house of money and values in the US Chart. Old financial systems are facing major change. I heard about the momentum toward a paperless currency - other countries are moving toward this at a faster rate than the US. That certainly fits.
Pluto moves so slowly its influence has been around us, shaping us, and in the sign Capricorn, causing great change in the institutions of power - the presidency, the patriarchy, our financial gurus, for several years now. And its influence will continue to be felt for several years to come.
We like to point to capitalism, free market enterprise, as the source of the nation's wealth. But let us not ignore the Plutonian legacy of wealth being built on the backs of slave labor. Having free labor allowed many to amass great wealth. And while capitalism has good points, capitalism run amok can be a heartless and ineffective institution. Just ask trust-busting Theodore Roosevelt!
Our karma has ripened, and we can face the dark sides of these institutions and thereby liberate ourselves from the effort of repressing these subjects. There are a lot of people who want a sanitized version of US history, but that means we will not liberate pent up energies that can be used more constructively. By not allowing the shadow to exist, we can fall prey to it.
