We had a Full Moon on Monday, May 12. The Sun in Taurus was opposite the Moon in Scorpio at 22 degrees. The wild card is that Uranus, the rebel who surprises the world's expectations by doing it "her way", was conjunct the normally stable, more conventional Sun in Taurus. Both Scorpio and Taurus are in harsh aspect to the sign ruled by Uranus, Aquarius. Negotiations, both international and nationally, are difficult. So some unexpected surprises and secrets will be exposed. Whistle blowers, get ready to whistle during the 14 day period before the May 26 New Moon.
Natally, Trump's Sun in Gemini is conjunct Uranus in Gemini, so he knows a little something about leadership that thrives on chaos and unpredictability. In Donald Trump's chart, the Taurus Sun/Uranus is on his Midheaven, the most public part of his chart. The Scorpio Moon is on the nadir, the most foundational part of his chart. The God of Lightning and Thunderbolts faces off against the God of Hell. Well, that doesn't sound good! In fact, we saw these two myth archetypes in conjunction during the January 6 Capitol Riot.
President Trump announced on Wednesday a $96 billion deal between Qatar Airways and Boeing, a symbol of the diplomatic maneuvering defining his presidency. The agreement, signed in Doha during a Middle East tour, includes the purchase of 210 Boeing jets by the state-owned Qatari carrier. Speaking in Qatar, Trump said the deal was for 160 airplanes and worth over $200 billion—though the White House later issued a fact sheet stating it was for up to 210 jets and worth $96 billion.
Trump answered "I don't know." about whether or not will he uphold the Constitution? (He was sworn in promising to do so. So who is in charge? The Federalist Society reportedly opposes the chaos of the administration because it may not be effective in accomplishing a permanent Conservative agenda. They may be aiming for the same things as Trump and Project 2025, but the Society thinks that some of DOGEs tactics may backfire.
The full moon chart hints at behind the scenes power struggles (warrior Mars opposing Pluto in as Mars opposes Pluto and both are in challenging aspect to Mercury in Taurus. (Middle East negotiations this week and Trump having trouble getting Putin to the negotiating table over Ukraine). Pluto in Aquarius is now in retrograde motion until October, which means Pluto will be reviewing past actions to see what was missed the first time. This fall Saturn, Neptune and will briefly enter a new sign, then go into retrograde motion during fall, retreating to review the recent past. Secrets will be revealed, sometimes by the press, and power struggles will continue as the irresistible will meets the immobile force.
The Scorpio Full Moon has an ability to see the worm in any applecart. Keep up the pressure. Trump is seen clearly under the light of the full moon, and he does care about his popularity. You see that in how he lies about crowd sizes.
Transiting Mars in Leo is conjunct Trump's Pluto and opposing transiting Pluto in Aquarius: Power struggles. Both Mars and Pluto are in harsh aspect to Mercury in Taurus.Trump is feeling the heat judicially with national injunction orders deciding against him in federal courts. As I write, the Supreme Court is taking this issue under consideration over birthright citizenship. As these power struggles affect Trump's Pluto inhis 12th house, he may find it is time to release elements of his vision. He may be feeling and showing his age, too.
In the US SibleyChart, there is a tense aspect between Mars (assertion/aggression) at 21 Gemini (communication in the sign of the twins - two faced?) in the 7th House (Allies) vs Neptune (the foreigner) in Virgo in the 9th House (overseas travel). This is about hostility toward immigrants, and it is a long standing isue. Remember how the Irish and Italians were loathed at first? Mars in Gemini in the 7th House (allies), is being fused with the energy of transiting Jupiter (expansion) and a solar arc progression of Saturn (contraction, boundaries). Immediately the chaos of expanding and contracting tariffs spring to mind. It also reminds me of the expansion and contraction around the Gulf of America, the desire to acquire Greenland, Panama and Canada! And there is more! The transiting Nodes are in Pisces North Node squaring Mars and opposing Neptune. The Virgo South Node is conjunct Neptune in Virgo, setting up a situation resembling the past, and asking us if we want a different resolution..
This configuration holds a cure, too. Mars aggression could be turned into assertiveness through generosity (Jupiter) in an orderly fashion (Saturn) which can be challenged to resolve the South Node/Virgo tension of seeing differences in culture as a weakness, but something to be compassionately understood (North Node in Pisces).A reboot of those choices is possible, but only if people want it.
Too much astrology? In a nutshell, we could allow an orderly process for entry or citizenship in the US. Instead of seeing differences as a liability, we can, with courage and compassion, treat the "other" as another human being. Cultural differences can bring more to the table. It isn't about competitiveness, but about complementation. We could.
What happens in the next few months may feel as though fate had a hand in the outcome, but it is really up to us to hold fast to our courage, to individually live our values so the collective bucket is so filled with this energy, there is no room for negative choice. Everyone asks what they can do - do it on an individual level, be in community, and be willing to fully embrace people who do not think, worship or live the way you do. I struggle, too, not to fall into despair, and try to remember what Arthur Ashe said "Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can."
